Light the fireplace, play your favorite tunes, light up a cigar and enjoy this classic two ingredient cocktail.
The Rusty Nail is a simple cocktail combining Scotch whisky and Drambuie liqueur. While its exact origins are unclear, a similar drink appeared in 1937.
It gained popularity in the 1960s, notably through Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, leading to Drambuie trademarking the "Rusty Nail" name in 1963.
After its peak in the 1970s, it declined in popularity but experienced a minor revival in the mid-2000s following Drambuie's acquisition and rebranding.
Ingredients:
2 ounces Scotch whisky
1/2 ounce Drambuie
Step 1:
Combine scotch and Drambuie in a rocks glass with one large ice cube.
Step 2:
Stir in the glass 15–20 seconds, until chilled.
Gilgamesh review:
Been drinking Rusty nails for many many years. My recipe is 2 parts single malt scotch and 1 part Drambuie. Favorite scotchs to use is Glenlivet 12 or 14 or in a pinch when Glenlivet isn’t available then Johnny Walker Black. I know the JW is a blend but its flavor in a Rusty Nail is nearly identical to the Glenlivet. Keeping the Rat packs memory alive!!
